Spencer Green (41) is the founder chairman of GDS International, a privately owned business-to-business events and media company that has its business spread all across the world.

Spencer Green, former Junior Wimbledon player, Wales rugby fan, practising marathon runner and competitive cyclist, started GDS as a publishing house targeted at the markets of China, India and South America. That was way back in 1993. Before this he had worked as a member of The Rolling Stones’ road crew and also as Sales Manager at Sterling Publications, post his education at Clevedon and Millfield schools and law study at Kings College, London.

So, GDS Publishing, which started off in 1993, became GDS International in 1998, following which it launched its first conference, Enterprise China. The Enterprise series was then rolled out across China and Latin America in the next couple of years and proved a big success. Thus GDS International went on to become specialists in industry-centric summits for senior decision makers. There was no looking back after that.
Last year, i.e., in 2010, GDS International recorded a revenue of £40 million from its offices in Bristol and Cardiff (UK), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia),New York (U.S.A.) and Sydney (Australia).
